This American Stout presents a complex, barrel-aged evolution, having matured for three years in heavily charred oak foeders. The base of roasted dark malts provides a sturdy foundation of coffee and bittersweet chocolate, seamlessly integrated with additions of cherry and vanilla. The extended aging introduces a sophisticated toasted oak character and a rounded richness that softens the aggressive bitterness typical of the style. Expect a nuanced interplay between the deep malt intensity and a balanced tartness from the fruit, resulting in a velvety, opulent profile that balances decadent sweetness with a refined, wood-driven finish.

Appearance. Jet black and opaque (40+ SRM). Pours with a dense, persistent tan to light brown head that leaves thick lacing on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity; bold aromas of roasted coffee and dark chocolate mingle with prominent vanilla and dark cherry esters. A distinct charred oak and light smoke character emerges from the foeder aging, complemented by low resinous hop notes and a subtle, smooth alcohol warmth.

Taste. Rich initial impression of bittersweet chocolate and espresso. The middle palate features succulent cherry and creamy vanilla, balanced by a medium-high bitterness and a hint of tartness. Toasted oak and moderate tannins provide structure. Finishes medium-dry with a lingering roasted grain character and a touch of dark fruit.

Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and velvety with a creamy texture. Moderate carbonation. Notable but smooth alcohol warmth reflecting the higher gravity. Very low roast-derived astringency, softened by the long aging process.
