Dunham Cyclope Beta
Brasserie Dunham’s Cyclope Beta is an assertive American IPA that lives up to its 'Tangerine Dream' moniker. The sensory profile is dominated by a muscular hop presence, delivering intense aromas of fresh tangerine, citrus zest, and a distinctively sharp pine resin. On the palate, the experience is 'biting' and hop-forward, balanced by a restrained, clean malt backbone that allows the bright orange and resinous notes to take center stage. This moderately strong ale concludes with a decidedly dry, crisp finish and a lingering, clean bitterness that highlights the aggressive yet well-integrated hop character typical of the style.
Appearance. Medium gold to light reddish-amber (approx. 8-12 SRM). Generally clear with a medium-sized, persistent white head and light lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent tangerine, citrus peel, and resinous pine. Low, clean, grainy maltiness provides a neutral base. Fermentation is clean with very low fruity esters.
Taste. Initial hop-forward impression with medium-high to high bitterness. Strong flavors of tangerine, grapefruit pith, and resin. Malt character is low and grainy-sweet with minimal toast. The finish is dry to medium-dry, leaving a lingering, hoppy and bitter aftertaste without being harsh.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, non-astringent texture. Moderate to high carbonation. Very subtle, smooth alcohol warmth consistent with its strength.
