Rainier captures the essence of a classic West Coast American IPA with a bold, mountain-sized hop profile. A punchy aromatic blend of El Dorado and Citra delivers vibrant tropical fruit and citrus, while Chinook and Simcoe provide a grounding, resinous pine and spicy undertone. Cascade rounds out the bouquet with its signature floral and grapefruit zest. The palate is defined by a firm, clean bitterness that slices through a lean, bready malt backbone, leading to a crisp, dry finish. It is a structured and intensely aromatic ale that balances wild Pacific Northwest hop character with refreshing drinkability and a lingering resinous aftertaste.
Appearance. Deep gold to light copper (7-10 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Pours with a medium-sized, off-white head that demonstrates excellent persistence and leaves thick lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by citrus zest, resinous pine, and tropical notes of pineapple and mango. A low, clean, grainy-sweet maltiness supports the hops. Fermentation is very clean with only a hint of background fruity esters.
Taste. The flavor is hop-forward with layers of grapefruit, resin, and spice. Low, bready malt flavors provide a brief initial sweetness before a medium-high to high bitterness takes over. The balance is decidedly bitter with a dry, crisp finish and a lingering hoppy aftertaste that avoids harshness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, crisp texture. Carbonation is medium-high, lending a refreshing bite. Features a very light, smooth alcohol warmth that is well-integrated at 6.5% ABV.
