Dry & Bitter Hobo Chic
Hobo Chic is a refined Double IPA that celebrates the expressive potential of Citra hops. It pours a brilliant deep gold, releasing an intense bouquet of pink grapefruit, passion fruit, and bright tangerine. While the hop profile is aggressive and resinous, it is underpinned by a clean, supporting malt backbone that ensures a sophisticated balance despite the high strength. The palate is characterized by a firm, persistent bitterness and a notably dry finish, allowing the citrus-forward hop character to linger without becoming heavy. At 8% ABV, a smooth alcohol warmth integrates seamlessly, enhancing the beer's structured mouthfeel and emphasizing its lupulin-rich character.
Appearance. Deep gold (7 SRM); moderate-sized, persistent white head with fine lacing; brilliant clarity to slight haze.
Aroma. Intense hop intensity featuring prominent Citra characteristics of grapefruit, lime, and passion fruit with a light resinous undertone. Malt is low and neutral, providing a clean, grainy background. Fermentation profile is clean with no significant esters.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of citrus and tropical fruit hops. Hop bitterness is high and firm but lacks harshness. Malt flavor is low and unobtrusive, resembling clean bread or cracker. The finish is very dry with a lingering, clean hoppy aftertaste and a light, smooth alcohol flavor.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth texture; moderate-high carbonation. Displays a restrained, smooth alcohol warmth without any harsh hop-derived astringency.
