This Hazy IPA, crafted for the Tate Modern, offers a vibrant sensory journey led by expressive New World Hops and a distinctive yuzu citrus twist. The profile opens with an explosion of tropical fruit aromas, harmonizing with the sharp, aromatic zest of yuzu. Despite its sessionable 4.6% ABV, it maintains the hallmark soft, plush texture characteristic of the style. Pale gold and opaque, it delivers a punchy hop-forward palate where layers of pineapple and mango meet a refreshing, citrus-driven finish. The balance is expertly tilted toward fruit expression rather than bitterness, creating an approachable yet complex exhibition of modern hopping techniques.
Appearance. Straw to pale gold with a luminous, opaque haze. Topped with a dense, white, meringue-like head that shows excellent retention and leaves intricate lacing.
Aroma. High intensity featuring a complex blend of tropical fruits, such as mango and papaya, supported by a sharp, bright yuzu citrus note. Background malt is clean and lightly bready, with a neutral fermentation profile that allows the hops and fruit to dominate.
Taste. Initial impression of juicy tropical fruit followed quickly by a citrusy yuzu zing. Malt flavors are low, presenting as simple cracker or grainy sweetness. Bitterness is low to moderate, providing just enough structure to balance the soft, fruity finish without lingering. Aftertaste is clean with a whisper of citrus oils.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a notably smooth and soft texture. Carbonation is moderate. No alcohol warmth is present, and it lacks any harshness or astringency, maintaining a refreshing quality.
