Drop Project Pure is a vibrant, modern American Pale Ale that highlights a lush, fruit-forward profile through the use of Superdelic and Nectaron hops. A heavy lean into stone fruit brings prominent notes of ripe nectarine and tropical punch, balanced by soft citrus accents. Despite its juice-forward character, the beer maintains a clean, drinkable backbone with a soft, hazy body that enhances the tropical aromatics. This collaboration with Somer Valley Brewing delivers a refreshing, hop-saturated experience where the expressive New Zealand and New World hops provide the primary sensory drive, supported by a subtle, neutral malt base and a crisp, approachable finish.
Appearance. Pale golden (approx. 6 SRM) with a distinct, uniform haze. Topped by a moderately large, creamy white head with excellent retention and delicate lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring vivid stone fruit, specifically nectarine and peach, alongside tropical notes of pineapple and passion fruit. A soft citrus undertone is present. Low, neutral grainy maltiness provides a clean background, allowing the Superdelic and Nectaron dry-hop character to dominate.
Taste. The initial impression is a burst of tropical punch and ripe nectarine. Hop flavors are prominent, echoing the aroma with layers of soft orange and melon. Bitterness is moderate and well-integrated, preventing the fruitiness from becoming cloying. The malt flavor is restrained and bready, leading to a clean, medium-dry finish with a lingering tropical aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a soft, slightly creamy texture enhanced by the hazy presentation. Carbonation is moderate to high, providing a refreshing prickle that cleanses the palate. No alcohol warmth or astringency.
