Drop Project Grounded X Tate

Mild 4.2 º
This modern take on a Dark Mild presents a rich sensory tapestry, balancing traditional British heritage with contemporary craft influence. Deep toffee and biscuit malts form a sturdy foundation, enriched by the aromatic contribution of East Kent Goldings hops, which impart a distinct bramble and berry character. The integration of a Colombian cold brew coffee blend from the Tate Roastery adds a layer of smooth roasted complexity and subtle fruit acidity. Expect a sessionable yet deeply flavorful experience where the earthy, floral hop profile dances with notes of roasted bean and toasted grain, culminating in a balanced and highly drinkable finish.
Appearance. Deep mahogany to dark brown in color (20-25 SRM). Displays a creamy, off-white to light tan head with moderate retention and slight lacing. Generally clear, though it may show a subtle haze from the cold brew coffee addition.
Aroma. Moderate intensity with a complex malt profile featuring toffee, biscuit, and toasted bread. The addition of Colombian cold brew provides notes of fresh roasted coffee and dark fruit. Hop aroma from East Kent Goldings is low to moderate, contributing earthy, floral, and specific bramble berry notes. Very low fruity esters.
Taste. Initial flavors of toffee and biscuit malt sweetness are quickly met by a smooth coffee roastiness. The East Kent Goldings provide a secondary layer of berry and bramble fruitiness, complementing the light esters. Bitterness is low but sufficient to balance the malt, leading to a clean finish that fluctuates between off-dry and slightly sweet with a lingering coffee aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, almost creamy texture likely enhanced by the coffee integration. Carbonation is moderate. Very low alcohol warmth, consistent with its sessionable strength, and devoid of harsh astringency.

Our latest collaboration is a classic seasonal belter with a modern twist. A dark mild, full of biscuit and toffee malts, beautifully complimented by East Kent Goldings whole-cone hops for a berry & bramble character. We’ve worked with The Tate’s own roastery & with Juliana Guevara (Winner of Best Coffee Exporter, Colombia 2021) to create a cold brew blend that works perfectly with the malty complexity of this beer.
