Drop Project Crush-X is a robust, amplified American Pale Ale that pushes the style’s boundaries with a vibrant, juice-forward profile. This intense version utilizes a generous hop bill of Citra, Mosaic, and Ekuanot to deliver a high-intensity sensory experience. The nose is dominated by bright citrus, sweet melon, and a subtle undercurrent of resinous pine. On the palate, a tropical explosion of mango, passionfruit, and papaya is layered over zesty grapefruit and pineapple. While leaning into the juicier modern interpretation with a misty haze, it retains the style's signature drinkability through a clean, supportive malt base that balances the amplified hop character.
Appearance. Bright yellowish gold (approx. 6 SRM). Displays a persistent, fluffy white head with excellent lacing. Clarity is characterized by a misty, attractive haze consistent with modern interpretations.
Aroma. High intensity hop-forward bouquet. Dominant notes of citrus zest and ripe melon from Mosaic, complemented by the tropical fruit punch of Citra. A secondary layer of resinous pine and subtle papaya from Ekuanot adds complexity. Malt is low, providing a neutral, crackery backdrop.
Taste. Initial punch of tropical fruit including mango and passionfruit. Mid-palette brings sharp grapefruit and sweet pineapple. Bitterness is firm and moderate-high, balancing the 6.5% ABV weight. Fermentation is clean, allowing the hop-driven flavors of papaya and melon to linger into a medium-dry, crisp finish without harshness.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate to high, providing a refreshing prickle. There is a very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth that enhances the bigger feel of the beer.
