This vibrant Double IPA presents an intense aromatic profile driven by a heavy-handed addition of Idaho 7, Chinook, and Simcoe hops. On the nose, Idaho 7 leads with a deep, mixed-fruit sweetness reminiscent of midget gem candies and tropical berry, while Chinook contributes punchy layers of fresh orange juice and bright citrus. Simcoe rounds out the experience with its characteristic pineapple dankness and a whisper of resinous pine. The palate follows suit, balancing high hop saturation against a clean, unobtrusive malt backbone. It finishes dry and crisp with a lingering, firm bitterness and a smooth, well-integrated alcohol warmth.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange-copper in color with a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head that leaves consistent lacing. The beer shows good clarity, though a very slight, modern hop haze is present.
Aroma. Intense hop aroma featuring tropical stone fruit, berry, and a candy-like sweetness from the Idaho 7. Bright notes of orange peel and grapefruit from Chinook mingle with resinous, pineapple, and slightly dank earthy tones derived from Simcoe. Malt is neutral, grainy, and supportive in the background.
Taste. Initial hop impact is high, delivering saturated flavors of citrus juice, tropical pineapple, and pine resin. The bitterness is firm and moderately high but lacks harshness. A very light, clean malt toastiness provides a brief platform before the beer transitions to a dry, hoppy finish with a long, resinous and fruity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-bodied with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate to medium-high, providing a lively lift. A gentle, pleasant alcohol warmth is present but remains well-controlled without being solventy.
