Dovetail Brewery’s Baltic Porter is a sophisticated, lager-fermented dark ale that honors the Polish traditions of the style. This deep mahogany-colored lager is topped with a dense, cream-colored foam that releases a rich bouquet of milk chocolate and sun-dried raisins. The aroma is accented by a gentle, restrained coffee roast, avoiding any harsh or burnt notes. On the palate, it delivers a smooth, velvety malt complexity with layers of toffee and dark fruit. The 6.6% alcohol provides a subtle, integrated warmth that complements the medium-full body, finishing clean with a lingering sweetness reminiscent of a well-aged vinous ale.
Appearance. Deep reddish-copper to dark brown (SRM 25-30) with brilliant clarity. Features a large, thick, and persistent stand of cream-colored foam with excellent lacing.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity featuring rich maltiness with notes of milk chocolate, toffee, and raisins. A clean lager fermentation profile supports a restrained coffee roast and light vinous qualities without hop presence.
Taste. Initial malt-driven sweetness of milk chocolate and caramel followed by complex layers of dark dried fruit like raisins and prunes. Bitterness is medium-low, serving only to balance the rich malt. The finish is smooth and dryish, leaving a clean, lingering impression of light roast coffee and molasses.
