Unseen is a vibrant showcase of New Zealand’s hop harvest, specifically featuring fresh Motueka and Nelson Sauvin hops from Freestyle Hop Farms. Unlike kiln-dried counterparts, this American IPA delivers a potent resinous and dank punch that anchors its sensory profile. Nelson Sauvin provides its signature white grape and passion fruit essence, while Motueka contributes bright citrus notes. Designed for clarity and balance, the beer offers a clean, supportive malt backbone that lets the fresh-off-the-vine character shine. It finishes crisp and dry, cutting through the intense hop oils with a firm bitterness that defines the style's assertive yet approachable nature.
Appearance. Color is medium gold (7 SRM). Brilliant clarity with a medium-sized, off-white, creamy head that shows good persistence and fine lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring resinous, dank, and herbal notes. Bright lime citrus from Motueka is complemented by the crushed white grape and passion fruit characteristics of Nelson Sauvin. Low, clean, bready-grainy maltiness in the background with a very clean fermentation profile.
Taste. Initial impression is hop-forward with flavors of lime, grapefruit, and tropical passion fruit. The distinct vinous grape flavor emerges mid-palate. Low grainy malt sweetness provides a brief support before a medium-high bitterness takes over. The finish is dry and clean with a lingering resinous and citrusy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily texture derived from fresh hop resins. Medium-high carbonation. No harshness or astringency, with only a very light, smooth alcohol warmth.
