This vibrant American IPA showcases the distinct terroir of Aotearoa through a punchy selection of Southern hops. Rakau, Motueka, and Nelson Sauvin drive a complex sensory profile of lime, crushed gooseberry, and stone fruit, underscored by sharp grapefruit notes. The structural Gladfield American Ale base, enriched with a touch of Munich malt and roasted wheat, provides a clean, supportive foundation of cracker and fresh toast without overshadowing the hop intensity. Balanced yet bold, this brew offers a refreshing, fruit-forward experience that finishes with a crisp, managed bitterness and a lingering citrus brightness, defining a modern New Zealand take on the style.
Appearance. Pours a medium gold (7 SRM) with high clarity. It is topped by a medium-sized, white, persistent head that leaves fine lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent lime, stone fruit, and crushed gooseberry. A low, clean, grainy maltiness with hints of cracker and fresh toast provides support. Fermentation is clean with no significant esters.
Taste. Initial impression is hop-forward with flavors of grapefruit, lime, and white grape. The Gladfield American Ale and Munich malts contribute a low-to-medium grainy-sweetness reminiscent of toasted crackers. Bitterness is firm and clean, balancing the fruit notes. The finish is dry to medium-dry with a lingering hop character of stone fruit and citrus.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, crisp texture. Carbonation is medium-high. Alcohol warmth is light and well-integrated at 6% ABV, with no perceived astringency.
