Double Vision Brewing
Repeat Offender offers a refreshing take on the German Pils, bridging continental tradition with vibrant New Zealand character. The foundational Pilsner Malt provides a clean, grainy, and slightly doughy base that supports a modern hop profile. The Aotearoa duo of Nelson Sauvin and Rakau takes center stage, infusing the crisp lager with distinctive notes of crushed gooseberry, white grape, and stone fruit. This fusion results in a brilliant, straw-colored lager with a firm, dry bitterness that remains highly drinkable. The clean fermentation profile ensures that the interplay between the crisp malt and the punchy, fruit-forward hops remains the focal point from first sip to the lingering, flinty finish.
Appearance. Straw to deep yellow (approx 3 SRM). Brilliant clarity. Pours with a creamy, long-lasting white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. Moderately high intensity. Prominent hop aroma featuring flowery and spicy notes alongside distinctive white grape and gooseberry from Nelson Sauvin, plus soft stone fruit from Rakau. Low grainy-sweet and cracker-like Pilsner Malt character. Clean fermentation profile with no esters or diacetyl.
Taste. Initial grainy-sweet malt flavor is quickly overcome by a firm hop bitterness. Hop flavors are prominent, echoing the aroma with herbal spice, white wine, and apricot notes. Medium-high bitterness that is clean and not harsh. Finishes very dry and crisp with a lingering bitterness and a subtle flinty minerality.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with high carbonation, providing a crisp and refreshing sensation. Very low alcohol warmth. Smooth texture without any lingering astringency.
