Mirrorball is a contemporary English Porter that shimmers with a modern hop profile while respecting its traditional foundations. This collaboration between Double-Barrelled and Siren Craft Brew delivers a rich, multi-layered experience. The base reveals smooth chocolate and biscuity malt notes derived from a traditional parti-gyle brewing method. These deep, roasted tones are brightened by a distinctive hop character that introduces subtle undertones of creamy coconut and vibrant tropical berries. The result is a balanced, moderate-strength dark ale that marries the comforting sweetness of caramel and toffee with an unexpected, fruit-forward complexity, finishing with a clean, lingering chocolate elegance.
Appearance. Pours a deep, dark brown with brilliant ruby highlights when held to the light. It is topped by a moderate, creamy, light tan head that shows good retention and leaves delicate lacing on the glass.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity. Dominant aromas of rich milk chocolate and toasted biscuits are complemented by a unique hop-derived layer of sweet coconut and muddled tropical berries. Low earthy notes and light caramel sweetness provide a solid foundation, with subtle fruity esters following the hop profile.
Taste. The initial impression is one of smooth chocolate and toasted bread. A significant biscuity and toffee malt character follows, seamlessly integrated with flavors of tropical fruit and a soft coconut creaminess. Bitterness is medium-low, providing just enough balance against the malt sweetness without being harsh. The finish is fairly dry with a lingering aftertaste of dark cocoa and light berry notes.
