Southern Living is a vibrant Hazy IPA defined by a lush, tropical fruit profile and a remarkably soft, pillowy texture. The grist, featuring a Minch Malt Irish pale base combined with malted and flaked oats, provides a medium-full body and a silky mouthfeel, while a touch of crystal malt adds a hint of honeyed sweetness. Massive dry-hop additions of Citra, Vic Secret, and Kotaku create an intense aromatic display of ripe pineapple and juicy mango. Supported by a Centennial whirlpool addition, the hop character is bright and expressive with super low bitterness, leading into a smooth, slightly sweet, and immensely crushable finish.

Appearance. Pours a hazy, opaque straw to light gold with a luminous sheen. It is topped by a dense, rocky, meringue-like white head that exhibits excellent retention and leaves a delicate trail of lacing on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity tropical fruit aromas dominate the nose, specifically highlighting fresh-cut pineapple and succulent mango. The hop-forward character is clean and devoid of grassy or herbal notes. A faint, bready, and grainy malt sweetness from the oats and base malt sits quietly in the background, complemented by a neutral fermentation profile.

Taste. The palate is an explosion of juicy fruit flavors, mirroring the aroma with intense mango and tropical citrus. The malt flavor is low to medium, providing a soft, bready foundation with a subtle hint of sweetness from the crystal malt. Bitterness is exceptionally low for the style, allowing the hop fruitiness to take center stage. The finish is off-dry to slightly sweet and incredibly smooth, lacking any harshness or hop burn.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full bodied with a soft, creamy texture derived from the heavy use of flaked and malted oats. Carbonation is moderate, providing just enough lift to maintain drinkability. At 7.2% ABV, there is a very light, well-integrated alcoholic warmth that does not detract from the beer's crushable nature.
