This Double IPA delivers a lush, modern sensory experience driven by a double helping of Mosaic and Simcoe hops. It captures the essence of a New England profile while maintaining the structural integrity of a classic strong ale. An aromatic explosion of ripe passionfruit, resinous pine, and juicy blueberry dominates the senses. On the palate, intense hop saturation layers citrus zest and tropical stone fruit over a lean, grainy malt base. Despite its 8% ABV, the beer remains remarkably drinkable, featuring a clean, smooth alcohol integration and a firm bitterness that balances the fruit-forward richness without becoming harsh.
Appearance. Gold to light orange-copper in color (7-10 SRM). Displays a moderate-sized, persistent white head with significant lacing. Exhibits a distinct haze consistent with the New England style, rather than the brilliant clarity typical of West Coast examples.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of passionfruit and pine from the Simcoe, alongside blueberry and tropical fruit from the Mosaic. A clean, neutral, grainy malt character sits in the background, supported by a lightly fruity fermentation profile and a faint, clean alcohol note.
Taste. Strong and complex hop flavors of grapefruit, tropical mango, and resinous pine. The bitterness is moderately high but remains smooth and soft on the palate. A low, clean, supportive malt character provides a brief toasted grain note before finishing medium-dry. The aftertaste is long and hoppy with lingering berry and citrus oils.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, almost creamy texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a crispness that offsets the hop oils. A restrained, smooth alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated, without any harsh hop-derived astringency.
