This Double Barrel Imperial Red Ale presents a massive sensory evolution of the classic American Amber Ale. Twenty-four months of extensive maturation in a sequence of whiskey and dark rum barrels imbue the deep mahogany liquid with intense layers of blackstrap molasses, vanilla, and charred oak. The foundation remains firmly rooted in rich caramel and toasty malt, though elevated to a velvety, high-gravity intensity. Resonant American hops offer a counterpoint of resinous pine and citrus zest, slicing through the decadent sweetness. It is a powerful, warming expression where the spirit-soaked wood character provides a sophisticated, lingering complexity and a smooth, spirituous finish.

Appearance. SRM 15–20; deep coppery-brown with distinct ruby highlights. The off-white head is creamy but fades to a persistent ring due to the high alcohol content, leaving light lacing. Generally clear.

Aroma. High intensity. Dominant aromas of dark rum, vanilla, and toasted coconut from the wood. Rich caramel maltiness and hints of burnt sugar are balanced by moderate citrusy and piney hop notes. Esters of plum and raisin are evident from the extended aging.

Taste. Initial impression is a massive malty sweetness featuring heavy caramel and toasty biscuits. The barrel influence is profound, contributing flavors of spiced rum, oak tannin, and whiskey-derived vanilla. Hop bitterness is moderately high, providing a necessary balance to the dense malt and residual sugar. The finish is long and warming with lingering notes of dark fruit, wood, and a clean spirituous character.

Mouthfeel. Full body with a viscous, velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate-low, enhancing the richness of the barrel character. Significant, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present. Low astringency from the wood tannins.
