Domus Super Aurea presents an amplified sensory experience, elevating the standard Double IPA profile with a bold 9% ABV presence. The nose is greeted by an intense wave of aromatic hops, bursting with vibrant notes of citrus zest, resinous pine, and ripe tropical fruits. A clean, neutral malt backbone provides the necessary support without adding heavy sweetness, ensuring the hop character remains the focus. On the palate, a firm bitterness asserts itself, balanced by a lean body and a dry, lingering finish. Smooth alcohol warmth rounds out the mouthfeel, making this a potent yet remarkably drinkable expression of intense modern hopping techniques.
Appearance. Gold to light orange-copper in color (SRM 6-14). Displays good clarity with a moderate-sized, persistent, off-white head that leaves consistent lacing on the glass.
Aroma. Prominent to intense hop aroma featuring citrus, resin, and tropical fruit notes. The malt character is neutral and supportive in the background, appearing slightly grainy. Fermentation is clean with very low fruity esters and a subtle, smooth alcohol presence.
Taste. Initial impression is a powerful burst of hop flavor mirroring the citrus and pine of the aroma. Bitterness is high but well-sculpted, never harsh. A clean, soft malt profile stays unobtrusive, allowing for a dry to medium-dry finish. The aftertaste is long and hop-forward with a clean bitterness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-bodied with a smooth texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a crispness that cuts through the strength. A noticeable but smooth alcohol warmth is present without being solventy or hot.
