Maelstrom is a bold American Stout that lives up to its name, pulling the palate into a dark vortex of intense roast and indulgence. At 8.5% ABV, this beer bridges the gap toward an Imperial profile, showcasing deep layers of decadent dark chocolate and sweet caramel. A distinct, creamy vanilla presence softens the aggressive roasted coffee notes typical of the style, while a firm American hop bitterness ensures a balanced finish. Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque (40 SRM). Large, persistent tan head with excellent retention and light lacing.

Aroma. High intensity roasted aroma, featuring dark chocolate and roasted coffee beans. Moderate citrusy and resiny hop character. Noticeable sweetness of caramel and creamy vanilla. Low esters and a subtle, clean alcohol presence.

Taste. Initial impression of bittersweet chocolate and espresso. Malt flavor is rich with caramel sweetness and a distinct creamy vanilla profile. Bitterness is firm and high, balancing the malt. Low citrusy hop flavor. Finish is medium-dry with a lingering, slightly burnt coffee quality.
