This Australian Sparkling Ale presents a vibrant sensory profile, defined by an assertive effervescence and a bright citrus character. Aromas of fresh mandarin and zesty grapefruit lead the way, supported by a subtle, grainy bready malt backbone and a light peppery earthiness. On the palate, the beer is exceptionally crisp and highly attenuated, offering an initial hint of cracker-like sweetness before a firm, resinous bitterness takes hold. The finish is bone-dry and refreshing, with lingering notes of citrus pith and a spritzy carbonic bite that cleanses the tongue, making it ideal for warm-weather consumption.
Appearance. Deep gold (6 SRM) with a tall, frothy, persistent white head of tiny bubbles. Brilliant clarity when decanted, though it possesses a characteristic hazy, cloudy appearance if the yeast is roused during the pour.
Aroma. Moderate intensity featuring a bright citrus blend of grapefruit peel and sweet mandarin. Beneath the fruit lies a clean, grainy malt character with hints of fresh bread and a low, earthy, herbaceous hop note. Very low pear-like esters are present in the background.
Taste. Initial impression is of soft, grainy malt sweetness quickly overtaken by dominant flavors of tart grapefruit and mandarin juice. Medium-high bitterness emerges mid-palate, feeling firm and resinous. Highly attenuated with a crisp, dry finish and a lingering citrus pith aftertaste. No caramel or heavy malt flavors are present.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a very high, mouth-filling carbonation that provides a sharp, spritzy carbonic bite. Smooth texture with a gassy, refreshing quality. Alcohol warmth is very low and well-integrated at 5% ABV.
