This Belgian IPA presents a sophisticated interplay between New World hops and traditional fermentation character. Bright tropical aromas of Citra lead the way, offering layers of mango and lychee that intertwine with the spicy, fruity esters characteristic of the Belgian yeast. Mosaic adds a nuanced berry and citrus depth, grounding the aromatic profile and providing a complex floral finish. The palate is defined by a refreshing, dry finish that emphasizes hop-forward bitterness over a clean, lean malt base. Petit Détour delivers a crisp, highly drinkable experience where the vibrant hop profile is elevated by a distinctively Belgian aromatic signature.
Appearance. Deep gold to pale amber color (6–10 SRM). Persistent, frothy white head with excellent lacing. Generally clear, though a slight haze may be present from the heavy hop load.
Aroma. High intensity hop character featuring mango, pineapple, and citrus pith from Citra and Mosaic. Significant yeast-derived esters of pear and red apple, accompanied by a light peppery phenol. Low bready malt aroma.
Taste. Punchy tropical fruit and citrus hop flavors upfront. The mid-palate transitions into spicy yeast phenols and fruity esters. Medium-high bitterness is firm but clean, supporting a very dry, crisp finish. Low cracker-like malt flavor provides a clean backdrop. Aftertaste is clean with lingering hop resin.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with high carbonation, creating a spritzy and refreshing mouthfeel. Subtle alcohol warmth is present but smooth. No astringency or harshness from the hops.
