This luscious American Stout offers an immersive sensory journey led by the integration of organic cocoa beans and premium vanilla. The experience begins with an inviting bouquet of dark chocolate and roasted malt, accented by a subtle, spirit-like bourbon nuance. On the palate, the assertive bitterness of the cocoa is artfully softened by the creamy, rounded sweetness of the vanilla. Despite its intimidating jet-black appearance, the beer remains exceptionally smooth and balanced, layering notes of bittersweet espresso with a velvety, dessert-like finish that avoids being cloying, resulting in a remarkably approachable dark ale that masks its complexity behind a gentle, approachable character.
Appearance. SRM 40+. Jet black and completely opaque. Features a dense, persistent, mocha-colored head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity dominated by dark chocolate and roasted coffee beans. The addition of vanilla provides a rich, sweet aromatic layer that merges with a light bourbon-like character. Hop aroma is very low, allowing the roasted grain and cocoa to lead.
Taste. Rich, bittersweet chocolate and heavy roast flavors of espresso and charred grain. The mid-palate introduces a smooth, natural vanilla bean sweetness that counters the cocoa-derived bitterness and low hop presence. Finishes remarkably balanced and clean with a lingering dark malt richness and a soft, velvety aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a silky, creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate. Alcohol presence is well-integrated, providing a light, smooth warmth without any harshness or roast-derived astringency.
