Devils Backbone O’Fest is an elegant Festbier that captures the spirit of modern Munich celebrations. It presents a sophisticated balance of doughy and lightly toasty notes, utilizing a contemporary blend of malts and hops to achieve a profile that is smooth, malty, and bready. The aroma is invitingly rich with a soft floral undertone, leading into a golden-hued body with high drinkability. On the palate, a signature bready sweetness transitions seamlessly into a crisp, clean finish. Avoiding the heavier caramel tones of a traditional Märzen, this lager provides a plush, creamy mouthfeel and a supportive bitterness that encourages another sip.
Appearance. Deep gold color (approximately 5 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Pours with a persistent, thick white foam stand that leaves moderate lacing on the glass.
Aroma. Moderate malty richness featuring prominent toasty-doughy aromatics and a light impression of sweetness. Low floral and spicy hop character. Clean fermentation profile with no yeast-derived esters or phenols.
Taste. Initial impression of medium-high malty richness with flavors of fresh bread dough and light toast. Medium-low spicy hop flavor complements a supportive but restrained bitterness (approximately 22 IBU). The balance is decidedly malty yet well-attenuated, finishing crisp and clean with a lingering bready aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, somewhat creamy texture. Moderate carbonation provides a gentle prickle on the tongue. Alcohol warmth is barely noticeable, well-integrated at 5.9% ABV.
