Predator Double Black IPA is a cinematic collision of dark aesthetics and vibrant West Coast intensity. It presents a roasty armor of dark malt that masks a bright, hop-forward core. Chinook and Simcoe provide a rugged foundation of resinous pine and woodsy spice, while Centennial and Citra deliver sharp citrus layers of grapefruit zest and lime. The addition of Nectaron introduces modern tropical depth, reminiscent of peach and pineapple. Despite its stout-like appearance, the palate remains remarkably agile, finishing dry with a firm, clean bitterness that balances the 8.7% strength and toasted malt character.
Appearance. Opaque, deep ebony to black (35–40 SRM); thick, persistent tan head with fine bubbles and excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity; pungent pine and resinous needles lead, followed by bright grapefruit zest and tropical stone fruit. Background notes of toasted bread, dark chocolate, and subtle coffee without being acrid. Neutral fermentation profile.
Taste. Sharp, resinous initial impression. Mid-palate reveals layers of citrus peel and tropical fruit. Malt flavor is supportive but distinct, offering toasted grains and cocoa. High bitterness is firm and clean, never harsh. Finishes dry and lingering with a hop-forward, piney aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, velvety texture. Moderate-high carbonation. Noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth. No significant astringency from dark grains or hops.
