Blunt Force is a powerful Double IPA defined by a heavy-handed application of Centennial, Riwaka, Apollo, and Mosaic hops. A striking golden pour gives way to an aromatic assault of resinous dankness and tropical fruit. The palate is a complex interplay between the pungent pine of Apollo and the sweet melon candy character of Mosaic, punctuated by the sharp orange citrus of Centennial and the unique, zesty grapefruit notes of Riwaka. Despite its 8.5% strength, the beer maintains high drinkability with a lean malt profile and a firm, clean bitterness that ensures a dry, punchy finish without becoming heavy or syrupy.
Appearance. Deep gold (8 SRM) with a slight haze. Topped by a moderate-sized, persistent, off-white head that leaves significant lacing on the glass.
Aroma. Intense hop aroma featuring waves of resinous dankness and pine. Secondary notes of juicy orange citrus, grapefruit zest, and a distinct sweet melon candy. The malt remains in the background as a neutral, clean, slightly grainy sweetness.
Taste. Strong and complex hop flavors lead with resin and damp pine, followed by a burst of tangy grapefruit and tropical berry. Bitterness is firm and assertive but smooth, lacking harshness. The malt character is soft and unobtrusive, providing a lean foundation. Finishes dry and clean with a lingering hoppy and resinous aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-bodied with a smooth, slightly oily texture from hop oils. Carbonation is moderate-high. A restrained, smooth alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated, with no hop-derived astringency.
