Jungle Boy is a vibrant Wild Specialty Beer that masterfully balances tropical indulgence with sharp, dark berry acidity. The visual presentation is striking, reflecting the deep pigment of black currant. On the nose, an intense bouquet of ripe mango and earthy black currant is softened by a velvety, vanilla-like sweetness from white chocolate. The palate follows suit, delivering an initial burst of lactic tartness that is quickly rounded out by the creamy, luscious texture of the mango and chocolate. Despite the 7% ABV, the beer remains exceptionally drinkable, finishing with a sophisticated interplay of fruit tannins and a lingering, smooth sweetness.
Appearance. Deep magenta to hazy reddish-purple in color; pours with a dense, pink-tinted head that shows moderate retention and leaves light lacing on the glass; opaque due to fruit solids.
Aroma. High intensity aromatics of fresh, pulpy mango and sharp black currant; a distinct creamy, white chocolate sweetness provides a vanilla-like backbone; very low earthy funk is overshadowed by the vibrant fruit and adjunct character.
Taste. Initial impression is a bold, refreshing lactic sourness; the mid-palate is dominated by the tropical sweetness of mango and the tart, slightly tannic edge of black currant; white chocolate adds a smooth, confectionary layer that balances the acidity; finish is clean and fruity with a lingering creamy sweetness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a lush, almost pulpy texture; moderate carbonation provides a prickly counterpoint to the creaminess; very light alcohol warmth is well-integrated; no significant astringency despite the dark fruit.
