Deeds Brewing Prime Directive

Prime Directive presents as a quintessential American IPA, delivering a bold and assertive hop profile characteristic of Deeds Brewing’s modern approach. The sensory experience is led by an intense aromatic display of bright citrus zest, crushed pine needles, and a wash of tropical passionfruit. On the palate, a clean, grainy malt foundation allows high bitterness to take center stage, balancing the resinous and fruity hop flavors. A 7% ABV provides a subtle, well-integrated warmth that supports the medium-bodied frame. The finish is decisively dry and lingering, inviting another sip while maintaining a crisp, refreshing clarity.
Appearance. Deep gold with brilliant clarity (SRM 7-9). Pours with a persistent, frothy white head that leaves significant lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop-forward bouquet featuring dominant notes of grapefruit, sticky pine resin, and mango. Low, clean, cracker-like maltiness sits in the background with a neutral fermentation profile and no buttery diacetyl.
Taste. Initial punch of citrus peel and resinous hop flavors. Bitterness is firm and assertive but not harsh. Malt is supportive and clean, resembling toasted bread or light crackers. Finishes very dry with a long, hoppy, and clean aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily texture from hop oils. Medium-high carbonation provides a crisp bite. A very light, smooth alcohol warmth is present, commensurate with the 7% ABV.

Although an interesting anthropological development that should be studied, we mourn the loss of our comrade. This event should stand as an example of why it is important to uphold the Prime Directive at all costs.
