This Double IPA presents an assertive and modern sensory profile defined by its intense hop saturation. A powerful bouquet of grapefruit zest, resinous pine, and tropical mango dominates the experience, supported by a clean, neutral malt base that keeps the focus entirely on the hops. Despite its 8.2% ABV, the beer maintains high drinkability through a lean body and a crisp, dry finish. The bitterness is firm and purposeful, characteristic of the style, yet remains smooth and devoid of harshness. It is a bold, forward-thinking ale that balances high-test strength with a refined, vibrant aromatic display.
Appearance. Pours a deep gold to light copper color with excellent clarity, though a very faint, modern chill haze may be present. Topped by a dense, persistent off-white head that leaves significant lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of citrus peel, resinous pine, and tropical stone fruit. In the background, a very low, clean, grainy malt sweetness provides support. The fermentation profile is neutral, and a subtle, clean alcohol note is present without being solventy.
Taste. The initial impression is an explosion of hop flavor, mirroring the aroma with layers of grapefruit, pine resin, and dried pineapple. Malt flavors are low and unobtrusive, providing a soft, cracker-like backbone. Bitterness is high but smooth, leading into a very dry finish. The aftertaste is long and hop-forward with a clean, lingering bitterness.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, almost creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate-high, providing a crisp bite that accentuates the dry finish. A gentle, well-integrated alcohol warmth is noticeable but refined. No hop-derived astringency is present.
