Deeds Brewing Desperate Invocation

This Imperial Stout is a monolithic sensory experience, defined by its massive 14.9% ABV and sophisticated barrel treatment. It presents an intense aromatic profile where charred oak and sweet bourbon notes from sixteen handpicked barrels meld with the creamy, aromatic influence of vanilla beans and toasted coconut. The roasted malt foundation provides deep layers of dark chocolate and espresso, which are softened by the decadent, dessert-like contributions of the adjuncts. It is a slow-sipping, complex beer where the spirituous warmth is elegantly integrated into a rich, velvety structure, delivering a harmonious balance between bittersweet roast and boozy sweetness.
Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque (40+ SRM). It forms a small, dense, deep tan head with moderate retention. Due to high viscosity and alcohol, prominent legs are visible on the glass after swirling.
Aroma. High intensity and extremely complex. Dominant aromas of toasted coconut and rich vanilla beans lead, followed by bittersweet chocolate, heavy roast, and dark-roasted coffee. The bourbon barrel aging contributes strong notes of caramel, toffee, and charred oak, with a smooth but noticeable alcohol presence. Low esters of prune and black cherry.
Taste. Decadent and full-flavored, starting with a wave of dark chocolate, fudge, and toasted coconut. The mid-palate is defined by vanilla-driven sweetness and spirit-forward bourbon character, including oak tannins and caramel. Bitterness is moderate-high but well-disguised by the residual sugars. The finish is long and warming, with a lingering aftertaste of cocoa and sweet spirit.
Mouthfeel. Very full-bodied, viscous, and chewy with a luscious, velvety texture. Carbonation is low to moderate, enhancing the beer's weight. Significant but smooth alcohol warmth is present, without being sharp or solventy.
