The heavy double dry-hopping of Galaxy, Kohatu, and El Dorado hops drives a sensory experience dominated by layers of ripe passionfruit, crushed pineapple, and distinct notes of watermelon candy. A supporting, clean graininess allows the hop oils to remain at the forefront, while a new yeast blend contributes a soft fruity ester profile. Despite its 10.1% ABV, the finish remains surprisingly dry and focused, with a persistent resinous bitterness that balances the lush fruit character and refined alcohol warmth characteristic of this triple-strength expression.
Appearance. Gold to light orange-copper in color (SRM 7-9). Features a moderate-sized, persistent, white head with excellent lacing. Displays a slight hop haze consistent with heavy dry-hopping.
Aroma. High intensity hop-forward aroma featuring prominent notes of passionfruit, lime zest, and stone fruit. Secondary notes of watermelon and pine resin are supported by a neutral, grainy malt background and a clean, lightly fruity fermentation profile. A smooth, clean alcohol presence is detectable but not solventy.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of tropical fruit flavors including pineapple and peach. Strong hop flavors of citrus and melon from the Galaxy, Kohatu, and El Dorado additions dominate the palate. Malt flavor is low, clean, and soft, providing a brief support before a moderately high bitterness takes hold. The finish is medium-dry and crisp with a lingering, resinous, hoppy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a lively mouthfeel. A noticeable but well-restrained, smooth alcohol warmth is present, reflecting the 10.1% strength without any harshness or astringency.
