Il colore è un bel dorato intenso. La schiuma bianca è abbondante, fine e persistente. Al naso profumi erbacei dati dal dry-hopping, fruttati e speziati. Ese carácter un poco más seco y amargo es aportado por el lúpulo Hallertau Mittelfrüh. Una de las mejores triples que tenemos de manera habitual en El retrogusto es mío y que sorprende a cada persona a la que se la recomendamos!!
El nombre de la cerveza proviene de la antigua abadía de Guldenberg en Wevelgem donde los monjes hacían cerveza. En la nueva etiqueta (foto), se muestra la puerta Oeste de la abadía.

Ale dal colore dorato carico che sulla bottiglia riporta la volutamente fuorviante definizione ''abdijbier'' (birra d'abbazia). Si tratterebbe, secondo il poco convinto consenso comune, di una tripel, definizione che, pur non essendo riservata alle abbazie, tuttavia è ben associabile ad esse, soprattutto come versione chiara e dolce della dubbel. Ora, chiunque conosca bene le tripel potrà constatare, assaggiando la Guldenberg, come essa se ne discosti notevolmente. Il colore è quello giusto, ma già dall'aroma emerge un secco acidulo che di tripel ha proprio poco: è frutto del lievito brettanomyces, utlizzato per alcune ale brune agrodolci, quasi mai per birre di questo tipo. La consistenza della schiuma, la leggerezza oleosa del corpo, l'effervescenza sembrano suggerire, più che una tripel, una saison. Ma il gusto smentisce anche questa impressione: frutti misti, pere e agrumi in testa, ricoprono uno strato di dolce malto, appetitoso come una torta appena sfornata, e una ricchezza di liquore cremoso, speziato di cumino. Avevamo ragione, allora, è una tripel! No, perché dopo aver sedotto il palato con dolcezze sopraffine, il gusto evolve rapidamente verso un secco di luppolo, inaudito in un contesto simile, e sul finale presenta un acido-amaro quasi di grappa. Il retrogusto è amarissimo e persistente, con una vaga nota di malto che sembra chiamare aiuto da lontano.

Está elaborada por la cervecera De Ranke, situada en Flandes, una empresa que elabora cervezas artesanas de carácter, generalmente muy lupulizadas. La estrella de la cervecera es la XX Bitter, famosa por su contundente amargor y sus sabores muy pronunciados.
En el vaso, la Guldenberg presenta un agradable color rubio amarillento oscuro, ligeramente velado por la cantidad de levadura que se deposita en el fondo de la botella. Este color está coronado por una agradable espuma abundante y poco densa de color blanco, no muy persistente en el vaso.
La Guldenberg despliega aromas a lúpulos floridos y afrutados, con un toque de cáscara de limón. También se percibe un aroma a levadura, incluso a pan fresco. A pesar de tener una graduación relativamente alta, en nariz no se percibe mucho el alcohol.
El ataque en boca es más bien suave y redondo. Destaca por sus sabores malteados. También incorpora notas afrutadas de lúpulo que garantizan la transición hacia un amargor pronunciado y equilibrado, muy persistente en boca. Aunque el alcohol no se percibe mucho, le da una nota cálida al conjunto. La Guldenberg puede conservarse durante mucho tiempo (por lo menos 5 años después del embotellado).
