Appearance. Jet black and opaque (SRM 40). Features a thick, dense, dark tan head with good persistence and noticeable viscosity shown through legs on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity aroma of deeply roasted grains, coffee, and bittersweet chocolate. Strong notes of black licorice and a moderate dark fruit character reminiscent of plums and prunes. Low earthy hop notes and a clean, warming alcohol presence.
Taste. The initial impression is a powerful wave of dark chocolate and roasted malt. Flavors of black licorice and a distinct creamy sweetness provide a mouth-filling character. Bitterness is firm but well-integrated, balancing a moderately sweet malt backbone. The finish is lingering and complex, with echoes of burnt grain and cocoa.
