De Bassus IPA

Red IPA 5.8 º 60 IBU
This American IPA presents a striking copper hue, bridging the gap between traditional English brewing foundations and modern American intensity. It utilizes a robust base of Pale Ale malt complemented by specialty English malts, providing a supportive toasted and light caramel backdrop. The sensory experience is dominated by a trio of American hops, delivering a pronounced profile of citrus and resinous pine. On the palate, a firm bitterness balances the grainy sweetness, leading to a clean, dryish finish. The interplay between the bready malt character and the vibrant, fruit-forward hops defines its refreshing yet complex personality.
Appearance. Strong copper to light reddish-amber (12–14 SRM). Clear with a medium-sized, off-white head characterized by good persistence and fine lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring grapefruit, lemon zest, and resinous pine. The malt presence is moderate, offering bready and toasty Pale Ale malt notes with a hint of caramel; fermentation is clean with very low fruity esters.
Taste. Initial hop-forward punch of citrus and pine followed by a medium-low grainy maltiness. Toast and light biscuit flavors from the specialty malts provide a solid foundation against a firm, assertive bitterness. The finish is medium-dry and crisp with a lingering hoppy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a lively mouthfeel without harshness. Very light, smooth alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated.
