Retribution is a vibrant Hazy IPA that showcases a lush, tropical bouquet. Dominated by the interplay of Idaho 7, El Dorado, and Citra hops, the sensory experience begins with a rush of ripe pineapple, sweet watermelon, and bright grapefruit zest. Subtle notes of apricot and a whisper of resinous pine provide depth against a soft, bready malt backdrop. Its juice-like character is balanced by a gentle, integrated bitterness that allows the saturated fruit flavors to lead. The result is a pillowy, refreshing expression of modern brewing, where the intense citrus and stone fruit esters harmonize into a smooth, lingering finish.
Appearance. Pours a glowing, opaque golden-orange with a thick, meringue-like white head that exhibits excellent retention and leaves consistent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop-forward aroma featuring heavy notes of tropical mango, pineapple, and candied orange peel. Secondary aromas of stone fruit and a hint of pine are supported by a clean, lightly bready malt presence and subtle fruity fermentation esters.
Taste. Initial impression is a flavor explosion of juicy tropical fruits—specifically watermelon and apricot—complemented by bright citrus notes of grapefruit. The malt provides a neutral, soft, bready substrate. Bitterness is restrained and smooth, leading into a succulent, off-dry finish with a lingering fruity aftertaste devoid of harshness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a remarkably soft, pillowy texture. Moderate carbonation enhances the silkiness, while a very light alcohol warmth is well-integrated. Entirely free of hop burn or astringency.
