Dark Element Brew Co

Metamorph Double IPA presents a vibrant sensory transformation driven by a potent trio of modern hops. Luminosa provides an ethereal bouquet of white peach and boysenberry, while Motueka adds a bright splash of lime zest and tropical fruit. The inclusion of Citra reinforces the profile with intense grapefruit and lychee notes. Despite its 8.4% ABV, the beer maintains a lean, supportive malt backbone that stays out of the way of the hop-forward character. This Double IPA is remarkably drinkable, finishing dry with a firm, clean bitterness and a smooth alcohol warmth that reflects its strength without becoming heavy, cloying, or overly resinous.

Appearance. Pours a brilliant pale gold to light orange (SRM 7-9) with excellent clarity. It is topped by a moderate-sized, persistent, off-white head that leaves significant lacing.

Aroma. High to intense hop intensity featuring white peach, lime zest, and grapefruit. Tropical notes of passion fruit and melon are present. A supportive, neutral, grainy maltiness sits in the background alongside a clean fermentation profile and a hint of smooth alcohol.

Taste. Initial impression is a burst of tropical and citrus hop flavors including lychee, lime, and stone fruit. Malt character is low, clean, and soft, providing just enough structure for the moderately high to high bitterness. The finish is medium-dry and crisp, with a lingering hoppy and bitter aftertaste that remains clean and lacks harshness.

Mouthfeel. Medium-bodied with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a lively prickle. A noticeable but well-integrated and smooth alcohol warmth is present, without any hop-derived astringency.
