Dark Element Brew Co

This American Pale Ale presents a vibrant hop-forward profile led by the punchy, tropical character of Riwaka and El Dorado. A bright bouquet of passionfruit, stone fruit, and zesty grapefruit is sharpened by the resinous pine and dank notes of Simcoe Cryo. Supported by a lean, neutral malt base that provides a subtle foundation of bready sweetness, the beer maintains a high level of drinkability. The fermentation is clean, allowing the modern hop varieties to remain the central focus through a crisp, medium-dry finish. It is a refreshing and balanced showcase of contemporary hop intensity and bright citrus within a classic, approachable structure.

Appearance. SRM 6; pale golden with a slight amber hue. Brilliant clarity. Large, persistent white head with fine-textured lacing and excellent retention.

Aroma. Moderate-high hop intensity. Dominant tropical fruit notes of pineapple and mango from El Dorado, accompanied by the distinct citrus and passionfruit of Riwaka. Simcoe Cryo contributes a supporting layer of resinous pine and light earthiness. Malt is low, presenting as clean cracker and toasted bread. Fermentation is clean with no noticeable esters.

Taste. Initial hop impact of grapefruit and melon followed by a firm, moderate bitterness. The malt provides a soft, bready backbone that balances the citrus zest. Riwaka and El Dorado drive a persistent tropical fruit flavor, while Simcoe Cryo adds a woodsy, piney complexity. Finishes medium-dry and clean with a lingering but smooth hop bitterness in the aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with moderate to high carbonation that enhances the crispness. Smooth and well-attenuated with no perceived alcohol warmth and zero astringency.
