Dark Element Brew Co

Colossus is a formidable Double IPA that showcases a high-intensity hop profile driven by the synergy of Citra, Motueka, and Strata. Expect a sensory collision of zesty lime and mojito-like citrus from the Motueka Hop Kief, layered over Citra’s signature tropical mango and grapefruit. Strata adds a complex dimension of passion fruit and subtle strawberry-dankness. The 8.4% ABV provides a clean, supporting warmth without overshadowing the hop-forward character. This beer balances a lean, neutral malt backbone with an aggressive but smooth bitterness, finishing dry to highlight the lingering, resinous essential oils of its New World hop blend.

Appearance. Deep gold to pale orange (SRM 7-9) with good clarity and a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head that leaves consistent lacing.

Aroma. Intense hop aroma featuring bright lime zest, grapefruit, and tropical passion fruit. A neutral, grainy malt character sits in the background, accompanied by a clean fermentation profile and a subtle, smooth alcohol presence.

Taste. Strong hop flavors of lime, tropical mango, and berry lead into a moderately high, clean bitterness. A low, soft malt character provides support without sweetness, leading to a dry finish with a lingering, resinous hop aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is medium-high, and there is a noticeable but well-restrained alcohol warmth consistent with its strength.
