Space Cat is a quintessential Hazy IPA that leads with an intense, multi-layered tropical bouquet. The heavy dry-hopping of Citra and Galaxy hops delivers a powerful punch of ripe passionfruit, juicy peach, and bright citrus zest. Unique contributions from HBC-630 introduce nuances of sweet cherry and red berry, adding a sophisticated depth to the saturated fruit profile. Underneath the hops, a soft, bready malt base provides a supportive, pillowy canvas. The finish is smooth and remarkably low in bitterness, allowing the vibrant hop oils and lush, juice-like character to linger on the palate without any resinous harshness.
Appearance. Pale straw to gold (4-6 SRM) with a deep, opaque haze and a luminous glow. Crowned by a dense, rocky, white meringue-like head with exceptional retention and thick, persistent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity aromatics dominated by tropical and stone fruits. Citra provides heavy grapefruit and lime, while Galaxy contributes intense passionfruit and pineapple notes. HBC-630 adds a distinct red fruit ester reminiscent of cherry and raspberry. Malt is subtle, suggesting fresh flour or lightly toasted white bread.
Taste. Initial impression is an explosion of succulent mango, peach, and citrus juice flavors. The hop bitterness is low, well-integrated, and never sharp, even at 7% ABV. Malt presence is grainy and neutral, providing a soft balance to the fruity intensity. HBC-630 provides a lingering red-berry complexity in the aftertaste. The finish is off-dry and exceptionally clean.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, velvety, and pillowy texture. Carbonation is moderate, enhancing the fluffy feel. Alcohol warmth is light and well-hidden. No astringency or raw starch texture.
