Feelin' Cheeky is a vibrant Wild Specialty Beer that leans into the indulgent side of wild fermentation. An assertive lactic tartness defines the palate, immediately engaging the salivary glands. A complex fruit melange leads with the deep, jammy notes of blueberry and plum, followed by the tropical, earthy tang of golden berry. Banana adds a subtle creamy undertone, while marshmallow provides a soft, vanilla-tinted sweetness that buffers the acidity. This wild ale balances the funky potential of its fermentation with a dessert-like richness, creating a multi-layered experience where bright fruit acidity meets a smooth, confectionary finish that evokes sweet jazz notes.
Appearance. Pours a deep, opaque reddish-purple hue (SRM 25-30) derived from the heavy blueberry and plum additions. A thick, pink-tinted foam head forms with moderate retention, leaving slight lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity aromatics of jammy blueberry and stone fruit plum dominate. A distinct marshmallow sweetness provides a vanilla-like cushion, while golden berry adds a sharp, citrusy edge. Clean lactic acidity is present, alongside a faint, creamy banana note and no detectable hop aroma.
Taste. The initial impression is a sharp, mouth-puckering tartness. The flavor explodes with dark berry skins and sweet plum flesh. Marshmallow and banana provide a mid-palate roundness and weight, tempering the high acidity. Golden berry contributes a unique, slightly tangy tropical snap. The finish is long and fruity with a lingering tart-sweet balance and virtually no hop bitterness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body, notably more viscous than a traditional wild ale due to the marshmallow and fruit solids. Carbonation is moderate. Minimal alcohol warmth is perceived at 6% ABV. A smooth, coating texture with no significant astringency despite the fruit skins.
