This Double IPA showcases an intense sensory profile driven by the biotransformation of Citra hops. The aroma leads with a high intensity of grapefruit, lime, and tropical passion fruit, supported by a clean, neutral malt backbone. Its appearance is a brilliant gold to light orange-copper with a persistent off-white head. On the palate, the Citra hop variety provides layers of citrus zest and melon against a soft, grainy maltiness. Despite the robust 8.5% alcohol, the finish remains remarkably dry and smooth, with a firm yet integrated bitterness that avoids harshness. It is a modern, hop-forward experience with elegant alcohol warmth and a lingering fruity aftertaste.
Appearance. Gold to light orange-copper color (7–11 SRM). Good clarity with a slight haze permissible from heavy dry-hopping. Moderate-sized, persistent, off-white head with fine lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent citrus, grapefruit, and tropical fruit notes. Background of clean, neutral, grainy maltiness. Very low fruity esters; no solventy alcohol notes, though a light, clean warmth is present.
Taste. Initial impression of bright citrus and tropical fruit. Strong hop flavor mirrors the aroma with layers of lime and melon. Bitterness is firm and clean, balanced by a soft, unobtrusive malt character. Finishes dry with a lingering hoppy and smooth bitterness, lacking any harshness.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly creamy texture. Moderate to medium-high carbonation. Noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth without being hot or fusel. No hop-derived astringency.
