This Double Cold IPA, a collaboration between Cuatro Palos and Bruer, presents a modern, vibrantly hoppy profile designed for high drinkability. Utilizing American hops through mash hopping and a double dry hop (DDH) regimen, the beer delivers an intense bouquet of bright citrus and lush tropical fruit. The Cold IPA approach ensures a lean, crisp backbone that allows the hop saturation to take center stage without heavy malt interference. It balances the 7% ABV with a sharp, clean finish, embodying the dangerously drinkable intent while maintaining the assertive bitterness and aromatic punch expected of a contemporary American IPA.
Appearance.Medium gold color (6 SRM). Brilliant clarity with a tall, white, persistent head that leaves fine, intricate lacing.
Aroma.Intense hop aroma dominated by citrus notes of grapefruit and lemon zest alongside lush tropical fruit like pineapple and mango. Low, clean, grainy maltiness provides a neutral base. Fermentation profile is exceptionally clean with no noticeable esters or phenols.
Taste.High hop flavor mirroring the aroma with layers of tangerine, passion fruit, and a subtle hint of resinous pine. Very high bitterness that is clean and sharp without being harsh. The malt character is low and crackery, providing a platform for the hops without lingering sweetness. The finish is very dry and crisp, with a long, hoppy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel.Medium-light body with a smooth, crisp texture. High carbonation enhances the refreshing character. Very light, smooth alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated. No astringency.
