This Double IPA presents a vivid sensory tapestry, led by an intense hop trio of Mosaic, Citra, and Strata. Expect a bright explosion of tropical passionfruit and mango from the Strata, layered with the pungent blueberry and earthy pine of Mosaic, and the sharp grapefruit zest of Citra. A clean, lean malt foundation allows these hop oils to dominate without cloying sweetness. The finish is assertive and dry, carrying a lingering resinous bitterness characteristic of the style. Smooth alcohol integration provides a gentle warmth that complements the bold, fruit-forward profile, resulting in a powerful yet remarkably drinkable strong ale.
Appearance. Deep gold to pale orange (SRM 8-10). Brilliant clarity with a persistent, dense white head that leaves significant lacing.
Aroma. Intense hop aroma featuring heavy tropical fruit, citrus peel, and a hint of dank resin. Very low, neutral grainy malt sweetness in the background; clean fermentation profile.
Taste. High hop flavor mirroring the aroma with layers of grapefruit, melon, and berry. Bitterness is firm and assertive but lacks harshness. The malt provides a soft, unobtrusive support of light cracker. Finishes very dry and clean with a long-lasting, resinous hop aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a crisp bite. A light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present but never solventy.
