Croma Hurricane is a monumental Imperial Stout that commands attention with its 13% ABV and intricate Bourbon barrel aging. This blend of four distinct bases creates a layered sensory experience where deep chocolate and roasted malt collide with the sweet, aromatic influence of the barrel. As the glass warms, a delicate cinnamon infusion provides a soft prickle of spice, beautifully threading through notes of sticky honey, creamy coconut, and rich vanilla. The wood influence is masterfully integrated, offering a harmonious balance between the intense roasted grain and the luxurious, spirituous depth of the bourbon, resulting in a sophisticated, warming sipper of immense complexity.
Appearance. Opaque, jet black (SRM 40+) with a dense, deep tan head. High viscosity is apparent through visible legs that coat the sides of the glass upon swirling.
Aroma. High intensity and deeply complex, featuring dominant notes of bittersweet chocolate and espresso roast. These are layered with bourbon-soaked oak, vanilla, and toasted coconut. Subtle honeyed sweetness and dark fruit esters like raisins emerge alongside a distinct but integrated cinnamon spice.
Taste. A complex mix of intense roast and chocolate flavors, supported by the rich influence of the barrel. Notes of bourbon, vanilla, and oak mingle with honey and coconut sweetness. The cinnamon infusion provides a gentle, warming spiciness on the mid-palate, while bitterness is moderate and well-balanced. The finish is long, bittersweet, and warming.
Mouthfeel. Full to very full-bodied with a velvety, luscious, and chewy texture. Carbonation is low to moderate. A smooth, noticeable alcohol warmth is present throughout but remains well-integrated and never harsh.
