This Double IPA is an intense sensory experience, merging the legacies of Guerrilla and Giant Step into a singular, powerful expression. A massive double dry-hop treatment drives a high-intensity aroma dominated by lush pineapple, ripe mango, and stone fruit peach. Despite its 8.5% ABV, the profile remains exceptionally smooth, eschewing harshness for a velvety, creamy texture that carries the hops through a long, fragrant finish. A supportive, neutral malt backbone stays in the background, allowing the tropical hop profile to shine. This is a modern, fruit-forward interpretation where hop saturation meets a refined, pillowy mouthfeel, defining a highly drinkable and polished ale.
Appearance. Pours a deep gold to light orange-copper (8-10 SRM). It features a moderate-sized, persistent white head with excellent lacing. Clarity is slightly hazy, reflecting its intensive double dry-hop additions.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of fresh pineapple, ripe mango, and juicy peach. Background notes of citrus and a hint of resin. Malt is clean and neutral with a light grainy presence. Fermentation is clean with very low fruity esters.
Taste. Strong and complex hop flavors of tropical fruit and stone fruit dominate the palate. Bitterness is firm and moderately high but exceptionally smooth, lacking any rough edges or astringency. The malt character is low and supportive, providing a soft, clean base. The finish is medium-dry and extremely fragrant, with a lingering tropical aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a remarkably creamy and velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate and smooth. A restrained, clean alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated, contributing to the beer’s substantial feel without being solventy.
