CRAK Brewery’s Perfect Enigma is a bold American IPA that showcases the distinct Australian Enigma hop through a double dry-hopped process. This single-hop exploration delivers an intense sensory profile defined by juicy red fruits, specifically raspberries and redcurrants, which meld with sophisticated white wine notes reminiscent of Nelson Sauvin. The high-intensity hop character is supported by a clean, grainy malt backbone, allowing the unique vinous and berry-forward complexity to lead. While refreshing and fresh, the elevated alcohol content provides a structured warmth that balances the firm bitterness, resulting in a modern, hop-centric expression with a crisp, dry finish.
Appearance. Deep gold to light amber (approx. 8-10 SRM) with a slight haze common in heavily dry-hopped versions. It features a medium-sized, off-white head with good persistence and moderate lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of red raspberries, redcurrants, and a distinct vinous character reminiscent of white wine grapes. Low, clean, grainy maltiness provides a neutral backdrop, with a clean fermentation profile free of heavy esters.
Taste. The flavor is dominated by the Enigma hop’s unique profile of crushed berries and white wine. Bitterness is medium-high to firm but remains clean. Low grainy malt flavors support the hop intensity without adding significant sweetness. The finish is medium-dry to dry with a lingering hoppy and vinous aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, soft texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a lively prickle on the tongue. A noticeable but smooth alcohol warmth is present, consistent with its higher strength, without any harsh astringency.
