This opulent Belgian Dubbel presents a vinous and indulgent profile, significantly intensified by the addition of aged plum liqueur pulp. The aroma is highly expressive, weaving together spicy, peppery yeast phenols with rich caramelized sugar and deep scents of sun-dried plums and raisins. Its appearance is a striking dark copper with mahogany highlights and a persistent, creamy off-white head. On the palate, a lush malt sweetness dominates, echoing notes of rich fruitcake and dark stone fruits, balanced by a sophisticated, warming alcohol presence that reflects its 11.2% strength. The finish is lingering and complex, where the nectar-like sweetness meets a velvety, full-bodied mouthfeel.
Appearance. Deep reddish-copper (17 SRM) with excellent clarity; features a large, dense, and long-lasting creamy off-white head with fine lacing.
Aroma. High intensity; rich malty aroma of caramelized sugar and toast. Prominent dark fruit esters of raisin and dried plum, accented by moderate spicy, peppery phenols and a soft, perfumy alcohol note.
Taste. Initial impression is malty-rich and sweet; flavors of dark plum and caramel are dominant. Low spicy hop character is overshadowed by yeast-derived pepper and clove. Low bitterness ensures a malt-forward balance, finishing with a lingering, warming sweetness and vinous dark fruit aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Full body with a smooth, viscous texture. Moderate carbonation provides enough lift to prevent cloying, accompanied by a significant and pleasant alcohol warmth.
