Hunting For the Sun is a vibrant Hazy IPA that showcases a collaborative hop-forward intensity. A complex blend featuring Citra and Citra Hyperboost provides deep layers of mango and orange, while Nelson Sauvin introduces a delicate lychee character. Strata hops contribute juicy nectarine and a hint of passionfruit, balanced by the bright, zesty pink grapefruit notes of Riwaka. The experience is led by this lush tropical wave, supported by a soft, pillowy malt backbone. This collaboration presents a smooth, juicy character with a restrained bitterness, concluding in a clean, fruit-drenched finish that emphasizes the modern hop varieties' nuanced aromatics.
Appearance. Straw to deep gold (4-6 SRM) with a dense, opaque haze providing a soft glow. Features a thick, meringue-like white head with excellent retention and significant lacing.
Aroma. High intensity. Dominated by a tropical and stone fruit bouquet of mango, nectarine, and lychee. Bright citrus notes of pink grapefruit and naval orange are prominent. Background notes include a faint passionfruit and resinous quality. Malt is low, presenting as sweet bread or light dough.
Taste. Immediate explosion of juicy tropical fruits including mango and nectarine, transitioning into zesty orange and grapefruit. Subtle vinous and tropical lychee notes provide complexity. Hop bitterness is low-medium and exceptionally smooth, never harsh. Malt provides a supportive, grainy-sweet foundation. The finish is off-dry and lingering with a persistent fruit character.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, pillowy texture. Carbonation is moderate. Alcohol warmth is light and well-integrated. Absence of any astringency or hop burn, offering a very smooth, creamy mouthfeel.
