The customary English-style sweetness is balanced by a bold, assertive citrus bitterness that elevates the profile, reflecting its big and hoppy inspiration. While the dark malts provide deep cocoa and light coffee undertones, the intense hop character cuts through the full body, leading to a complex finish where roasted grain and bright, zesty notes linger harmoniously against a creamy texture.
Appearance. Opaque deep brown to jet black. Topped with a thick, creamy, and persistent tan-colored head that leaves significant lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity featuring prominent dark chocolate and roasted coffee notes from the malt, complemented by a bright, citrusy hop character. Low fruity esters and a subtle, grainy-nutty oatmeal scent add complexity.
