Children of the Rye is a decadent, barrel-aged Rye Wine crafted in collaboration with Põhjala. This complex ale captures the essence of a two-year slumber in Finnish Kyrö rye gin barrels, weaving an intricate tapestry of spicy rye grain and botanical herbs. The aroma is a sophisticated blend of honey-drenched bread, juniper, and dried stone fruits. On the palate, expect a rich, velvety texture where toasty malt meets the sharp, peppery snap of rye. Layers of golden raisin and herbal gin botanicals lead into a warming, lingering finish, defined by its high-viscosity "legs" and a masterfully integrated alcohol presence.

Appearance. Deep amber to burnished copper with garnet highlights (SRM 12-14). Pours with a thin, creamy, off-white head that fades into a persistent ring. High viscosity is apparent through prominent "legs" on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity. A powerful bouquet of spicy rye bread and honeyed malt is layered with distinct herbal gin botanicals, including juniper and coriander. Significant dried fruit notes of sultanas and figs are present, accompanied by a clean, smooth alcohol warmth and a hint of charred oak.

Taste. Rich, bready rye malt dominates the entry, followed by complex caramel and toasted biscuit flavors. The middle palate reveals deep fruitiness reminiscent of dried apricots and raisins. Gin barrel influence adds a unique herbal and peppery complexity. Bitterness is low to moderate, ensuring a malty, slightly sweet balance that never becomes cloying.

Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and chewy with a luscious, velvety texture. Carbonation is low, enhancing the beer’s sipping quality. A noticeable but smooth alcohol warmth spreads across the palate without any harsh fusel edges.
