This collaboration Hazy Double IPA offers a vibrant sensory voyage, leading with an intense bouquet of lime zest from Motueka and the signature crushed white grape and gooseberry notes of Nelson Sauvin. Simcoe anchors the profile with a subtle resinous pine and deep passionfruit character. Despite its 8% ABV strength, the beer maintains a smooth, approachable character typical of its modern hazy interpretation. The aroma transitions into a saturated hop flavor that dominates a soft, pillowy malt base, providing a lush backdrop for bright tropical fruit and berry-like nuances. It finishes with a restrained bitterness and a gentle, clean warmth that highlights the complexity of this Double IPA.
Appearance. Hazy, pale gold to light orange-copper; features a moderate-sized, persistent, off-white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma with prominent tropical fruit, lime, and white wine grape notes. Background notes of resinous pine and a supportive, neutral, slightly grainy malt character. Fermentation is clean with very low fruity esters.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of tropical fruit and citrus hop flavors including lime from Motueka and passionfruit from Simcoe. Nelson Sauvin contributes a distinct white grape flavor. Moderately high hop bitterness that remains smooth and lacks harshness. Soft, clean malt character supports the hops. The finish is medium-dry with a lingering fruity and citrus aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, almost creamy texture. Moderate carbonation. Features a restrained, smooth alcohol warmth and no hop-derived astringency.
